The mission here at Twinkle Toes Day Nursery is to create a place where Twinklers feel safe to tackle obstacles and accomplish all of their goals. We strive to better our Twinklers through educational experiences both in and out of the setting. We offer a variety of opportunities to help Twinklers be the best of themselves while having some fun along the way.
We use non-statutory curriculum guidance (Development Matters, 2021) which offers a top level of how children develop and learn within the early years. We focus on observing, planning and assessing the prime areas of learning:
Personal, social and emotional development
Physical development
Communication and language
Alongside, focussing on the specific are:
Literacy
Numeracy
Understanding the world
Expressive arts and design
Curriculum overview:
Our aim is for all children to grow, develop and learn through their experiences and activities with us, putting them on the path to being ready for school and beyond.
The curriculum is what the children will learn and be able to do during their time here. It starts with offering a secure foundation by understanding the child’s starting point and establishing a strong bond to enable the child to feel safe. Then, we begin our journey working towards being ready for school. We do this by breaking learning down into small, personalised steps to meet each child’s individual needs. Children will be supported to learn through play and encouraged to ‘have a go’ by participating in activities to widen their experiences and skills. Children will learn about self-care and how to express their needs and feelings. We will help children to build resilience and confidence to enable them to become independent learners. Children will have access to a continuous provision with endless opportunities to engage in high quality learning and interactions by adults following the ShREC approach. All children will be encouraged to have and share their own opinions and listen to others. We will question the world around us to promote curious learners. Children will be celebrated as individuals, and we hope that every child leaves our setting feeling proud of themselves and ready to approach the next stage in their education with excitement and curiosity.
